Wolds Medical

Carol began her career in Ultrasound in 1987. Since then she has been at the forefront of developing exceptional ultrasound services, having set up the Ultrasound department at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in 1992 leading the service across the south bank, establishing the community service with 360 Care in 2013 and most recently our team of dedicated staff here at Wolds Medical in 2021.

As the Clinical Lead Carol leads by example, demonstrating the highest standard of practice in both imaging and patient care and never expects something from the team she wouldn’t do herself. She is gently nurturing, pushing the team to excel in all aspects of the service.

In 2022, Carol was a finalist and runner up of the National Advancing Healthcare Awards for her clinical leadership within the community.

Her personal expertise is extensive with a particular accent on gynaecology.

Carol commands the respect of all her colleagues both as the lead sonographer and personally. She has a gentle, guiding hand and engenders a ‘family’ feel within the team.

Carol keeps fit, regularly running with her friends over the Lincolnshire Wolds. Carol is a proud and loving matriarch of a close family of grown up sons, a new grandson, and her beloved spaniels.

Dr. Matthew Balerdi is a consultant imaging cardiologist working across Hull, North Lincs, and North East Lincs. His special interests are complex echocardiography (Stress, TTE, bubble), cardiac CT and nuclear cardiology. He runs continues to run the adult congenital heart disease service in Hull. Up until 2022 he ran the inherited cardiac conditions service and was conical lead for NLAG.

Dr. Balerdi graduated from the University of Bristol with Honours BSC in Anatomy in 1999. From interview he was selected to enter the University of Leicester’s first 4 year cohort and completed the MBChB with distinction in the clinical examinations in 2003.  He has trained in cardiology across several hospitals; Nottingham University Hospitals, Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals before completing his training in University of Leeds Teaching Hospitals. He returned to Hull in 2015 to take up his Consultant post.

Dr. Sreekala Seepana is an experienced General Practitioner with specialist expertise in women’s health. She holds an MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, along with MRCOG, MRCGP, and a Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH), bringing advanced skills and knowledge to her community practice.

Following some advanced training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the Yorkshire Deanery, she pursued a career in General Practice to apply her expertise in women’s health in a broader community setting. This path enables her to deliver holistic, patient-centred care while maintaining a strong focus on women’s health. Her clinical interests cover all stages of women’s lives, with particular expertise in menopause care, where she follows evidence-based guidance from the British Menopause Society to ensure the highest standards of treatment.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Seepana serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School (HYMS). Her dedication to education has been recognised through multiple nominations for teaching excellence and the Phase II and III Tutor of Excellence Award in 2024.

Beyond medicine, she promotes physical activity as a key aspect of wellbeing and enjoys badminton, running, yoga, and dance.

Dr Geetha Borman MRCGP, DFSRH, BMS is a General practitioner in North East Lincolnshire since 2008. She has a specialist interest in Women’s Health and has been an advocate for women in their health journey including their menopause transition. She completed her fellowship in Women’s Health in 2022 and gained the Advanced certificate in menopause care from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health. She is also a registered menopause specialist with the British Menopause Society.

She is the Clinical lead for Women’s Health in her local GP practice and also the Women’s Health Champion for the Women’s Health Hub of her PCN. She has years of experience in managing contraceptive concerns, women’s health concerns and also menopause care. She strongly believes that all women deserve to have a holistic tailored approach to meet their own needs as we are all unique individuals.

Dr. Sudhakar Allamsetty is an experienced General Practitioner with over 16 years in primary care in the UK, bringing together clinical excellence, leadership, education, and research.

He holds an MBBS and multiple postgraduate qualifications, including MRCP (Part 1 & 2), MRCGP, Postgraduate Certificate in Cardiology, Certificate in Diabetes Care (Warwick), Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education, and is currently completing an MBA in Healthcare Management at Warwick University, with a dissertation focusing on the role of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare.

Dr. Allamsetty has a strong background in cardiology, diabetes, prescribing governance, and medical education. His commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in healthcare delivery ensures patients receive evidence-based, compassionate, and forward-looking care.

Clinical Interests

• Diabetes management, including insulin initiation and titration
• Cardio-vascular health like high Blood pressure management, Cholesterol management, Atrial Fibrillation management.
• Rheumatology-like Joint pains, Fibromyalgia, all Joint injections (large and small joints, carpal tunnel syndrome)
• Men’s health checks-Prostate and Sexual Dysfunction
• Cryotherapy for skin tags
• Frailty and Elderly health checks at home.

Lizzy first trained as a sonographer in 1991 and has worked locally within the NHS in both secondary and primary care settings ever since. She has post-graduate qualifications in both Vascular and Musculoskeletal ultrasound and has a huge amount of skill and experience in a wide range of ultrasound specialities.

Lizzy has trained many sonographers over her career including one of our own team, Rob. Lizzy is extremely knowledgeable and skilled, acting as a mentor for other members of staff. She is enthusiastic in ‘spreading the love’ of ultrasound!

Lizzy is full of character and compassion, her personable and unique approach has a positive effect and patients are always very happy with their experience. When Lizzy is around there is never a dull moment and the department is full of laughter.

She loves sharing stories about her dogs and we are proud to have her as an integral part of our team.

I am most passionate about helping clients understand themselves.

This may be a struggle with low confidence or self-esteem, feeling lost and not knowing who you are, or moving through life transitions and milestones (eg becoming a parent, leaving home, career change, retirement, divorce). I also work with a range of mental health conditions including depression and anxiety, as well as bereavement and long-term and chronic health conditions.

My work is focused on enabling personal growth and helping you to become the best version of you.

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and alongside my therapy work have had voluntary roles for babyloss charities including Sands and the Twins Trust.

I work with adults aged over 18, on a one-to-one basis.

My Journey

My journey into counselling started over a decade ago with my own wonderful experience of therapy. Feeling unsettled in a corporate career I’d done for almost 20 years I decided I had ‘more to give’.

I began with befriending roles for the Sands and Twins Trust Babyloss charities, before completing my counsellor training. I have been working for the NHS ever since and gained experience with a wide array of people and life challenges.

Richard started as a physiotherapist in 1989 and in 2005 began using ultrasound for musculo-skeletal imaging, evolving in to ultrasound guidance for the injections in 2008.  He has worked with Wolds Medical since 2021 providing ultrasound guided steroid injections. His many years of experience along with his gentle but no-nonsense approach has earned himself a loyal clientele who sing his praises!

Richard has a meticulous approach ensuring he can provide the most appropriate treatment for your pain.

Richard’s soul is half-Scottish as he regularly tramps the Scottish highlands with his dog Bodie.

Will has a degree in marketing and management graduating from Newcastle University in 2016 and began his career organising events for global outdoor brands, expanding across Europe eventually running sales and photoshoots. He went on to start up a ground-breaking clothing company whose Dragon’s Den pitch was cancelled by Covid! Here he was involved with design, material selection, factory sourcing through to marketing, advertising and sales.

Will was instrumental in the start-up of Wolds Medical bringing a business focussed, marketing head to a team whose experience had only been NHS work.

Will is an extremely knowledgeable and proactive driving force for our team, always leading the way for us into innovation, excellence and progression. Will thinks ‘outside the box’ and with his kind, charming nature he ensures we are all working together as a finely oiled machine.

Will is a party animal and our social events organiser much to the delight of the staff!

Zoe has 15 years NHS experience, having worked in both GP Practice and Commissioning. She has worked closely with Carol since 2013 as a founding member of the community, primary care based 360 ultrasound service, moving with Carol to assist in the formation of Wolds Medical.

She began as the sole admin member and now leads a team of 6 administration /healthcare assistants, ensuring Wolds Medical is efficient and productive on a day to day basis. Quite simply, if Zoe doesn’t know, it isn’t worth knowing! Her organisational skills are second to none and your pathway through Wolds Medical is safe in her hands.

Zoe loves a seasonal celebration, decorating the department and bringing cheer to the patients and staff alike.
